Many people feel that the only time they need an eye exam is when they want to replace their eyeglasses. While it is important to see well, undesirable changes in your eye health can occur without affecting your vision! Follow the advice of experts and have your eyes examined on a regular basis. The American Optometric Association recommends a child's first eye examination at age 6 months and once a year for all adults.
There is a significant difference between a vision screening and a thorough eye examination. We offer a state-of-the-art eye health and vision examination that will uncover hidden, potentially sight threatening eye disorders and diseases that are not found by a simple eye exam. We also offer the Optomap Retinal Exam that can replace the dilation drops. Getting an Optomap image is fast, painless and comfortable. Nothing touches your eye at any time. It is suitable for the whole family and can reduce your time in the office.
What is a Complete Eye Exam and Consultation?
During an eye exam, the doctors will ask you questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing, medications your are currently taking, any blurry vision, your work environment, and your overall health. Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during this part of the examination. The doctors will consider this information when determining any treatments or recommendations.
What is Eye Function?
In addition to evaluating your vision to determine the need for corrective lenses, an eye exam in our Succasunna Roxbury Area office includes determining eye function. Our optometrist performs several tests to evaluate depth perception (3D vision), color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and responsiveness to light. Several other simple tests are completed to determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together properly. The test results enable our doctors to diagnose any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes ability to focus or work together. Depending on the results of your vision test, our doctors may prescribe corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercises.
What is an Eye Health Exam?
